Parma Panthers and Catania Elephants: their road to the Super Bowl


Parma Panthers - The third Super Bowl in five years for Parma, after two loss in 2007 (55 - 49 vs. Bergamo Lions) and 2006 (24 - 12 vs. Bergamo Lions). Parma reached the Super Bowl thanks to a great mix between veterans and young players. The Panthers have 19 rookies in their roster: many of them were promoted from the Under 21 team that won the championship last year. On Saturday, Panther Andrea Vergazzoli will receive the award as Best Kicker of the season.

Catania Elephants - It will be the first Super Bowl ever for Catania. The Elephants showed a great offense all season long, starting from week 1 with a 81 to 52 win over the Bolzano Giants. If the offense is the best of the league, the defense is the third from last. On Saturday, Free Safety Cristian De Mauro will receive the award as defensive MVP of the season.

Parma Panthers vs Catania Elephants: the Silverbowl
Back in 2004, the Parma Panthers and the Elephants Catania played the Silverbowl (the final stage of the div. II league). With a 44 to 13 win, Parma were promoted to the first division.
